Castles and Eagles' Nests

Schloss Hohenschwangau and Schloss Neuschwanstein

Schloss Neuschwanstein - we rode carriages up to both castles - quite a lovely experience when the horses weren't farting

Schloss Hohenschwangau - the Royal Castle of King Ludwig back in the day. His son built the other one (Neuschwanstein) with fairy tales in mind and the king spent his days watching the construction through a telescope situated in one of these towers

On top of the world and barely hanging on...

Eagle's Nest - a gift to Hitler on his 50th birthday. Too bad he was afraid of heights. This is located above Obersalzberg, Hitler's vacation home/Fuehrerbunker. Obersalzberg is from where Hilter had hoped to rule the world.

Munich Madness and More

The Bavaria (we sat in her head, yes we did)

Glockenspiel at the Rathaus in Munich taken after walking up 13 flights of rickety old stairs in a church tower

Biergarten at Hirschgarten - biggest beer garden in Munich and the least touristy despite the field of deer next door

Johanna and me at the beer garden

Florence

Ponte Vecchio - jewelry stands line the bridge

David - a copy. The real one is about 3 or 4 times bigger... just can't take any pictures
