Stockholm, Sweden - May 2009 (continued)

Entrance to Gamla Stan (Old City) in Stockholm - Me and Hilary

Changing of the guard at the Royal Palace. Quite the sight to behold - these soldiers hop and trot rather than walk and march!

The royal band. Last time I was in Stockholm these guys were on horses and playing... needless to say this was a little disappointing compared to that.

Hilary and Rich's friend Sami spoiled Hilary and I with an amazing dinner (you have NO idea!) and a beautiful view. For the longest time Stockholm had height restrictions on their buildings, but a few years back those were lifted and he (Sami) snagged an amazing apartment/condo overlooking the city. Gorgeous night. Unfortunately, I only got pics of Hilary and myself and not Sami (with whom, we found out, I share a birthday!)

Where'd the time go?!

Tomorrow! So very excited.

I will be done 11.5 credits of 55! So far everything has been "Credit" versus "No Credit," so that's good. ;) Next semester sees me back in the classroom - first as a general assistant in helping set up classrooms for the new year, and then in a 6 week practicum (school experience) for all of October and some of November.

*getting antsy*

Part of me feels ready to go - just give me a class already! BUT, there is a lot more to get through before they'll give me one, so I'd better comply...

After our morning class tomorrow we'll be off until the day after Labour Day. I'm very excited that I will actually get a bit of a summer break - none of us were expecting it so were pleasantly surprised to find two weeks in August as class-free. No complaints here! I'm working a few day shifts, but am keeping my weekends open to be social or go camping or just vege. Very exciting to NOT do homework.

Next Thursday (27th) I'm off to a chicken farm for a fundraiser. My program will be making about $1500 in 3 hours (or less!), catching chickens and stuffing them into crates to be shipped out (don't want to know where). That'll look neat on my resume -- I hear that if one lives in the Fraser Valley chicken catching is a right of passage of sorts. I'm up for just about anything, once. Within reason. And this qualifies.

Sometime between then and now...

... I lost track of time.

School is crazy-busy. Not all that mentally challenging, but labour-intensive and never-ending. I'm about 1/12th of the way through my Teacher Education Program and am grateful that a break is just around the corner.

Relived a bit of my childhood (though, what year, I have no idea!) today -- went to the Agrifair in Abby and watched the RCMP Musical Ride. Pretty impressive. But I do remember everything being so much bigger! *sigh* I'm all grown up now.

This long weekend sees me working working working and doing homework when I'm not working. Last year and the year before I was off at a Girls' weekend in Penticton and it's happening without me this year. Makes me a little bit sad that those memory-making moments aren't mine to share! Always next year, right? Right!

Sleepy eyes, so this will be short. I have no idea if/when I'll post more Europe pics - that seems like decades ago already, even though it's only a couple of months. One day. When the spirit moves. ;D

Ciao for now!
