The tie that binds

I have some questions for you folks out there in internet-land. Those of you who are from BC, that is (though, if you feel you're an expert on the subject and aren't from BC, feel free to throw in your two bits).

My questions are as follows:

What is it that makes us British Columbians?
What sets us apart from the rest of Canada?
What makes a Vancouverite, an Islander, someone from the Peace River area, the Kootenays, heck, even Atlin, similar?
What is it that defines us as BC'ers?
What tie binds us all together?

There are silly emails that go around stating "You know you're from BC when...", but there has got to be something more!

With the unveiling of the 2010 mascots, people (or rather, adults) all over BC were upset because they felt the mascots didn't represent us, British Columbians, properly.

How can we be upset if we don't know what we are?!

What is a BC'er?

It's a bit sad but all I can think of is our reputation for being pot-heads! But seriously if you are from BC you or someone near and dear to you have had at least one encounter with the legandary weed:)
Also I think there's a love for the outdoors and rugged nature, at least Northern BCers:)
